It is no longer news that the Students’ Legislative Council of the University of Lagos Students’ Union has ‘suspended’ the financial secretary and treasurer of the union. The Legislative Council purportedly exercise this power in pursuant to the provisions of Article 4, Section 4, Paragraph K of the ULSU Constitution.

The SLC, from the beginning of the process, did not observe the provision of Article 3, Section 4, Paragraph E, which lucidly stipulates that the Executive Arm of the union can only be summoned after it has been duly notified through a letter submitted to it, at least 48 hours before time. Worthy of note is the fact the SLC had written a letter to the Executive Arm of the union on Wednesday, August 5 requesting the latter to appear before it on Thursday, August 6.
