The Ladies Day themed Law Ladies Bespoke (LLB), takes place today after much anticipation and planning. The event, held exclusively for the Faculty of Law Ladies features Guests Speakers from all walks of life, from the Academia to the Entertainment Industry.
RICHARD MOFE DAMIJO
Born Richard Evans Eyimofe Mofe–Damijo, on the 6th of July 1961in Warri Delta state Nigeria, passed through his primary and secondary education at Anglican Grammar school where he was a devout member of the drama group. He later went to the University of Benin to study theatre arts and in 1997 came to the University of Lagos to study Law and graduated in 2004.
After graduating from the university, RMD as he is popularly known starred in a television soap opera in the 80s called RIPPLES. Before then he had a stint with CONCORD NEWSPAPER and METRO MAGAZINE as a reporter. OUT OF BOUNDS was the first film for which he received a writer/ producer credit. At the maiden edition of the African Movie Academy Awards in 2005, he won the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
He is currently the commissioner for culture and tourism in Delta State.
RMD is happily married with four children.
Once called the Mark Zuckerberg of Nigeria by Forbes magazine for his first online venture, Student Circle Network which started in Kyrenia, an area in Northern Cyprus in 2010, Gossy Ukanwoke at 25 is a young entrepreneur and has created and run several successful companies. He is from Abia state and grew up between his home town and Lagos. He graduated from Grine American University with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Management and also a Business Intelligence degree from the North American University, Texas.
Gossy’s latest online venture is BAU Online, a unique hybrid-online/on-campus-learning solution, which offers which offers executive and professional programs. He is also in the process of establishing a university in Benue state, an area that is perfectly placed between Abuja and Enugu, major hubs which bot have international airports. In April 2012, Gossy Ukanwoke stepped down from active management and operation of the Students Circle Network to focus on the creation of a new online university- Beni American University with a goal of creating affordable education for African youth. He seeks to revolutionize higher education with his Information and Communication Technology research.
Ikenna Bryan Okwara, born on the 9th of November 1986, is a Nigerian actor and pageant contestant who won the first ever title of Mr Nigeria in 2007 and reached the semi-finals in the Mr World 2007 competition.
He won the award for most outstanding African male model in at the Nigerian model achievers awards in 2010 and model of the year at mode men awards in 2011. He is also the winner of Best African Male Model 2015. As a model, he has graced stages across Africa and America and has served as an ambassador for brands such as Audi, Guiness, Knorr and Globacom.
He featured on the reality TV show, ‘Celebrity Takes 2’ and has graced our TV screens in movies like ‘Heart to Heart’, ‘I’ll Take My Chances’, ‘Weekend Getaway’, ‘True Citizens’, ‘Awakening’,
The 6 feet 1’ model with well-chiselled abs and an attractive face is a favourite for covers of magazines such as WOW, Bloke, Shakara and Greenland.
PROFESSOR AYODELE ATSENUWA
Professor Atsenuwa is a lecturer and professor in the department of Public Law in the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos.
Osi Dirisu popularly known as Osi Suave is in the league of new OAP’s in the country making waves. Currently hosting ‘The Nighttime Show’ on The Beat 99.9 FM, Osi is rapidly gaining popularity among nighttime radio lovers. He is believed to be the only OAP whose radio show trended 42 times on Twitter in 2012. He won the Radio Personality of the Year Award at the 2012 YEM Awards and also Dynamix Awards in 2012 as well.
The Sociology and Anthropology graduate of the University of Benin started his hands on Radio Broadcasting at Rhythm FM before taking up the Beat FM job in 2012.
Lanre Olusola is an alumnus of the world renowned Harvard Business School in Boston Massachusetts USA, an ASET, UK certified Life Coach. He graduated as a Performance Coach from Europe’s Number 1 coaching institution; The Coaching Academy, UK. His advanced studies in Psychology, Neuro Linguistic Programming [NLP] and Quantum Physics led him to become an AAMET UK. Certified Matrix Reimprinting Practitioner and Emotional Freedom Technique [EFT] Therapist.
He is respected nationally and internationally for imparting exceptional problem solving, motivational, inspirational, human developmental, leadership and management skills.
He has worked extensively with the UK government through the Department for International Development [DFID], and the Nigerian Government, various state Governments and Government Agencies, and other International Donor Organizations such as The World Bank and the British Council etc..
Lanre is involved in various capacities with and sits on the board of some of the following non-profit organizations; FATE Foundation, MTN Foundation, Ford Foundation, UNICEF, CITIGROUP Foundation, IFC, NESG, Linkachild GTE Limited and Inspire Africa Foundation.
Bankole Williams is the co-founder of EdgeEcution. He is a UK Certified Life Coach and a Employee Engagement Expert. He is the author of ‘Engaged to a Job I Hate’, a book on career advancement and employee engagement. He was awarded Nigerian author of the year at the recently concluded YADA magazine 2012 readers’ choice awards.
He first gained invaluable management and career experience at Guarantee Trust Bank, where he was an invaluable member of the human resources team. While at Guarantee Trust Bank, he discovered his passion for workforce activation and man power development which led to his move to the training department where he facilitated trainings for the staff in the bank, after which he joined a reputable consulting firm, visible impact.
Mr Williams is an expert in delivering training solutions on product lines such as self-mastery, effective communication, team bonding, superior service delivery, leadership, selling skills, workforce activation etc. He provides consulting intervention for banks and different organizations, some of which include, Guarantee Trust Bank, Access Bank, Stanbic IBTC Pensions, NLNG, UTC to mention a few. He is a host on the ‘Market Place’ on smooth 98.1fm a radio programme aimed at empowering business people with the skills necessary to successful run their business.
Mr Williams is a convener of Youth conferences and the Assistant Coordinator, Youth With A Purpose [YWAP], a non-governmental organization where he speaks on a weekly basis inspiring young people to become great achievers in Nigeria.
DR SOPE WILLIAMS-ELEGBE
Dr Sope Williams-Elegbe is a research fellow in the department of public law and specialises in public procurement law, anti-corruption law and commercial law. She is the author of several publications in the area of corruption and public procurement. She is an editor for the journal of African Law [Cambridge University Press] and a reviews editor for Public Procurement Law Review [Sweet and Maxwell]. Dr Sope is also a member of World Bank’s International Advisory Group on Procurement [IAGP] and has been involved in advising international financial institutions and government bodies on anti-corruption matters. Dr Sope read law at the University Of Lagos, Nigeria and subsequently undertook an LLM at the London School of Economics where she graduated with distinction. She also completed doctorate degree in Public Procurement Law at the University of Nottingham, UK. She has taught at undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the University of Stirling and Nottingham both in the UK and has been a visiting scholar at the Universities of Cape Town, Stellenbosch and Lagos. Dr Sope had her research on public procurement funded by the British Academy in 2006 and 2011. Her research has also been cited by the Constitutional Court of South Africa in Shalk v The State .
She is currently deputy director of the African Public Procurement Regulation Research Unit and a senior lecturer at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. She is also the Executive Director at the Glass Centre, a legal research and consulting firm based in Lagos.
