ANGEL GABRIEL

Of the humans that be, not many know the correct account of the beginning. Angel Lucifer, after he sought to dethrone the One who rules supreme, was cast down to earth. Where he swore to uphold and defend the advancement of his cause. He made use of such devices as chaos, war, lies, and strife…to plunge the race of human beings in an eternal dark. And he would continue so to do, until the end of time, or until his time ended.
But the task of torturing the people of the earth proved not to be an easy one, for God so loved them…He would need help. He had his minions, the tiny little demons who decided to go with him, and they were faithful, they worked hard too. But day after day, more humans were born, full of empty innocence and the angels who still served the purpose of good constantly stood in their way. Business was bad.

Then something happened. I do not have the facts exactly right myself but the story goes something like this…
Another sought to join him. To leave the eternal pleasure of the seventh Heaven and smudge his immortal white with the dirt of mortals. To meddle in their affairs and have the thrill of pulling strings they could not see, to watch them lose every battle he engaged them in. To frustrate as many plans of goodwill as possible, and dampen the hearts of those who looked to a future, promising and pleasurable. And of the powers that be, none could be compared to him.He borrowed from Luci, the tools of falsehood. And those of discord. He was particularly gifted at wielding malice and a tongue so smooth he could convince you that your gender was the opposite one. His name, Gabriel. Some say, he was the same arch angel and some say he just took on the name, but this we know; Lucifer and Gabriel working against any one human, would give him a beautiful hell of an existence.
And so Gabriel started. He chose a tiny portion of the world, where young men and women were gathered. These people sought to arm themselves with knowledge, so they could face life after a period of five years. He endeared himself to them, and solved as many little problems as he could for as many of them as he would. He found his way to their rooms, and learned about their relationships. On occasion, hunger failed to sadden some of them because of his presence. They had a language. They called themselves ‘guys’ when they were friends. Gabriel became everybody’s ‘guy’.
And a time came when they needed a leader. One who would serve as a ladder, through whom they could attain greater heights. Naturally, they chose him. A certain Angel Tchidok tried to stop him and save them from a future under Gabriel. But he was late, as the foundations had already been laid, in their hearts.
Then power.
They say that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Maybe his time with the humans softened him, maybe he really was becoming a ‘guy’… We will never know. Because his ascent to the throne called ‘helm of affairs’ quickly put him back on track, and he resumed the fulfilment of his original design. First, he made sure that the few who dared to follow Tchidok were duly punished. They would face the full wrath of his antagonism. He had a team of people whose duty it was to help in the administration of things. A number of these people were smart and had progress and unity as part of their orientation. They easily fell on his bad side. A squabble here, a fight there, a made up story here and some threatening there…soon, the quality of life of the average member of this group of people who came together to learn left a great deal to be desired. And after a while, being human, they became tired. They needed change. They wanted it. They were on the hunt for a new leader. And a number of men who had ambition came forward. Of these, two stood out. They stood out in character and competence. They stood out in raw talent and ability. They stood out in precedent and achievement…and they stood out in appearance. Gabriel did not want either of them to succeed him, but he could no longer pull the wool over everybody’s eyes anymore. And he could not attack them both, so he chose one. An innocent man who by simple virtue of his being, irritated the senses of Gabriel. Who was this man? He was intelligent and he could think. He was handsome and he could read. He was kind and he could write. And above all, he was creative and he could speak. All these were his offense. In the past, they had encountered each other, and this man rather than cower before him, defied his essence and challenged his reign. So he swore to see to it, that the progress to a better place of that man, would know stagnation, for as long as possible.
Cunningly, he targeted the gullible. He repainted the beautiful image of this man, and the new picture was a horror. He dug up as many past imperfections of this man as possible, and threw them in his face. He told all who would listen, that at the very least, this man was evil. He turned the hearts of many against someone who meant them good. And when the innocent man, like the Saviour, took the fall, Gabriel smiled.
He had completed his assignment and achieved his goal. And it would not come back to him because he possessed a superior nature. In due time, he would leave their midst and his guise would return to him. He would find a new milieu and reintroduce himself. With light around him and warm wings out spread, he would tell the new victims, ‘peace be unto you, my name is Angel Gabriel, and I bring good tidings…’

The Witness.

  9. Look I know he offended you and snatched away your dreams of presidency , but, that doesn’t make him a devil especially since it wasn’t false accusations he alleged. It’s difficult to have one’s ego bruised but he’s done with school now and this is an anonymous piece so unfortunately it reeks of pain. People would say good writing to pity and console you but by tomorrow your article is old news and those allegations would stick for life. So stop doing what caused one candidate out of four to be picked on by “angel Gabriel” and man up and face reality. Failed reputation and political career.

Abi you still want to be wearing “law’s got talent” and “Abiola Ojo sports festival” shirt there. I wasn’t for jones but he’s undpubtedly one of the most amazing people I know.

  12. It is unfortunate that sheer animosity blinds people’s faces and stops them from reasoning beyond their pugnacious orientation. Firstly, does this seem like Jones’ style of writing? Secondly, wouldn’t it be fine if you just did not further smear the hard won reputation that Jones has got that Cornel has failed to build for himself? And then Cornel’s still got the nerves to comment. Sir, can I ask what good has ever come from your fig tree? Elections have gone and faculty of law, against your bad wishes, remains United. Jones supports Wale’s administration all the way and you can see that from his demeanour. Not everyone will be like you this pilfering individual from hell’s pit. You unscrupulous individual. A disgrace to the legal profession you would be! Moreover, the article was not about whether or not Jones was not contented with the results of the election, it was about warning the world that another Lucifer is about to bedevil it. From the depth of my heart Cornel, I wish you multiple folds of the kind of exploits you did here in LSS, and may your life be as disorganized as you left LSS. May the world never experience your bad luck ever again. Please free the reputation of Jones Ayuwo . If you have your doubts, check his style of writing and you can be sure he would never have done this. He’s got morals unlike ‘cunning Gabriel’. In the words of someone more sensible than Cornel, a year two student for that matter: Jones might have lost that elections, but he has earned my respect forever. Whose respect has cornel won? Maybe his fellow lucifers.

It is touching that some one took out the time to voice his or her feelings about my experience and indeed the experience of the entire faculty and to do so so artistically too, is absolutely brilliant. However, in response to some of the comments I have seen here, let it be known that I read this piece after seeing a bc, just like most of you. As for you Cornelius Gabriel… it’s pitiful really.

  14. Saw this since. Didn’t wanna say anything but at this point I think I can supply my small opinion. Firstly ITS not a badly written article. Its creative. Good idea by the writer, implementation okay. Kudos to the writer for that. But no its not the greatest writing since Shakespeare as some people seem to think. Its just a ‘good’ article. By good I mean fair, average, regular about a sensitive issue at a sensitive time. It is as Jones said, ‘touching.’
And I am not sure I approve with how the blog is aligning itself with some parties and issues after claiming ‘unbiased’ and uninvolved in faculty politics. I mean y post this now knowing clearly its political connotations. I can say for a fact that this is not the first article criticising something about the election. Others have been shunned. Y post this now? Either post them all or post none at all. Be consistent about something.

As for cornal’s comment, I seriously doubt its him making that comment. I always thought cornel had sense. Street sense if not intelligence. He did make allegations that may or may not have impacted Jone’s race negatively. Its hardly fair to come forward to gloat and laugh in public. Like stepping on a fallen enemy. Its somewhat low and unnecessary. Good politicians don’t do that and I always thought he was a good politician. It is unnecessary, foolhardy and dangerous. Like offending me then pointing it out to me just in case I didn’t notice. Really dangerous stepping on people’s pride like that. Can elicit dangerous reactions. If imdeed you have won, y come foward to laugh. Enrages your foe and who wants an enraged foe? D point is to win not maim. Only wound if you r going to kill. A smart person definitely dosnt leave a wounded foe behind them. Not a smart move there. *thumbs down* It won’t be surprising if someone comes to the faculty someday with a bandaged head. I ain’t threatening. Just a prediction of human behaviour and reactions. Pride is afterall a dangerous thing to trample on. But oh well, he who goes to the market to price has a particular sum in his mind already so…

  15. I thought Cornel said he did not have any candidate. And if that is the case, does it not prove that what this witness of a person talked about is true. He did not want Langa or Jones, the Two obviously best candidates to win but since he could not tarnish both their images, he focused on Jones, who for God knows why he doesn’t like. And then gloating publicly… Haba. I didn’t know much about what went down before, but Cornel is beginning to actually resemble a terrible person. This article just might be right about him.

It definitely becomes suspicious when people are over-pained, being unnecessarily hurt and dragging things too far, Nd start acting like it’s a do or die affair.
It just makes one ask the question “why do u want it so bad?!” It’s no longer normal! If you were working ur butt off, day & nite, with no side benefits, wud u be so sad that you lost??

      3. This person is not saying Jones must have won. He is simply unhappy with the kind of person and president Cornel has been.

I think the President owes us a duty to produce a financial analysis (either directly or through a ‘favoured’ exco) of how the funds were managed and appropriated. Failure of which should prompt a requisition of such by the senate or the Resurgence team from the For<—-ward team ; ) .. *just my thoughts

  25. Let’s face the fact!
Though I do not want to cast unnecessary aspersion on anybody’s personality. But about popurted allegations against Jones, the question we should ask is, did he do it or not? I can see that most of us are beclouded by sentiment, hence the comments I have read clearly points to that direction. If lawyers to be should deal with issues like this, I pity for our nation! As for people who said Cornel is the worst thing that has ever happened to the faculty. I just laugh! And shake my head! But without prejudice to any administration, apart from Seun williams and probably that of Bamisaye, Cornel’s administration stand out as the best. Evidence abound to buttress this fact. Yes, he couldn’t get all his team to work, which was not his effort. “As you can only take a horse to the stream but you can not force it to drink the water”. I am not portraying him as a saint, he is also imperfect as all humans are. But why this hate and lamentation? Is cornel the only person to have written an offensive article against a candidate? Right from my year 1, this ugly trend has become a recurrent decimal and it has never been blown out of proportion like the way this one has been done even when the issues alleged could not be substantiated. Let me not even go far, have we forgotten the plethora of allegations sprouted up against cornel by “team impact”, which Jones was a member and was deeply active? Or have we forgotten the article written by the then out going President of L.S.S against this man “cornel” ( Tolu, “swagger toas”) an heaven did not fall and nobody lamented. Or are we to talk about castigation of cornel’s personality by this same Jones to then year 1 students now year 2. “He who must come to equity must come with clean hands” You cannot apoprate and repobrate at this same time and you cannot cry foul of an act why you are guilty of it too.
For those who said Cornel never wanted “Langa” I just laugh because that’s how mischievous people can be and how well they can interpret events.
We should crave for a united L.S.S and not the kind of one we had, where some excos were lackadaisical and exhibited unprogressive antics just because the person the wanted as president did not win. Or the kind of L.S.S where a few clique of people claimed hegemony of power.
Finally, we should change our attitude to issues and politics in the faculty. He might not be your friend, he might not be your favourite and you might hate that person but he might be the help you need tomorrow. That’s life for you!
That’s saying it the way it is!
    One faculty of Law!

Our dear nation doesn’t need your pity as it sought to produce lawyers with integrity, those who will uphold the tenent of their profession, which leads us to how you feel the allegations against Jones were true. Is it the same “allegation” Dr Oni is aware and the VP sent out a bc explaining things. When will you people start reasoning. I mean, you said Swaggertols wrote an article against Cornel…how many stories will you jambites believe from Cornel???

On the team impact issue…Cornel should have Dr Oni and swaggertols to thank for law school as he truly attempted raping the lady in question. (The lady is still an extra student in d faculty). I don’t get it
