The world craves for good art; one that would make brains pop; raise the dead and put them back 7 feet. The kinda art that’ll engrave heritage and happiness, art for the bad and bougies, the sick and sane; art enough for the mad vibe to go round. It takes talent and finesse to cook up something that’ll make a lot of people do almost anything to appreciate it and along the line, develop an undying love for the artist. I’m talking about all facets of art spanning from all forms of creative arts to whatever these young guys around days do these days to make heaven and earth rock! The music currently is on fire; the competition is like- what the fudge?! There is no dull moment; all artistes are on their toes. You relax, and you’re knocked out of the game. Speaking of the game, it is so damn right to acknowledge the virus the young and burning artistes have on us, especially in the U.S. The one who seems to get me to the core is Jaden Smith. His craft blows me away and it’ll be wicked for me not to come to the conclusion that he’s one of the best amongst the young hip hop rockers and trappers in the American music industry.
It never started as a joke for him. Although some may say he has always had a good platform owing to the status of his parents (Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith) who are already big names in the entertainment industry, trust me it wasn’t all rosy for him. He had to work hard himself. It’s just like yesterday when he had his first movie role in a movie with his father (The Pursuit of Happyness). The game has really changed for him, it’s crazy. After featuring in ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still’, The Karate Kid, After Earth and Good Lord Bird in 2008, 2010, 2013 and 2014 respectively, Jaden took a hiatus on the screens and decided to hit the studio especially after the release of his second mixtape (Cool Tape Vol. 2). There were no fears from his fans as we weren’t disappointed with his single with Justin Bieber (Never Say Never) which ended up peaking at no. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. This transition from movies to music was kinda similar to what his father did but the other way round. Jaden claims that his father is one of his biggest inspirations. His music career which is just beginning, although has lasted for quite a while, is fast become the biggest thing that’ll ever happen to the world of music. When he came out with The Cool Café Mixtape in 2012 we thought it was just there till he released his debut album, Syre in 2017 and we didn’t know what hit us. It took him three years to prepare that album since 2014 and finally in 2016 he announced the title of his new album. From my findings on what people think about the album, it’s more like a surprise to them as to how he morphed overtime to give us this so much goodness. Some were even of the opinion that he’s now way better than his kid sister, Willow Smith, who had gone deep in the music industry before him. Like did he go to a rap school?! The way his plays with his lyrics and chips in his vocals sometimes, is just dope. It’s very obvious, he played his cards right. He has gone as far as making songs with Donald Glover (Childish Gambino), Tyler the Creator, August Alsina and the likes. By the way, he has announced the title of his next album (Erys).
His fashion sense is definitely not going to be the topic of today because it’ll we won’t leave here. It’s so sick! His earrings, nose rings, hair-styles, and his cloths! Check his Instagram and see for yourself. He also started his own clothing line known as MSFTSrep featuring outfits like t-shirts, hoodies, trousers and other apparels. Smith also had a collabo with Korean designer, Choi Bum Suk, to make their clothes with their collaborated logos available to them via a pop-up store. He hasn’t gone all AWOL on movies though. Apart from the fact he has featured as a voice actor in the Ezra Koeing owned anime, Neo Yokio , in Netflix’s movie Get Down and Nashville, all in 2017, he’s going to be featuring in a movie alongside Paper Town and Suicide Squad star and American actress, Cara Delevingne. The movie is titled, Life in a Year.
The statement he made early into this year, that he can’t hang out with Kanye West, Drake and Childish Gambino, has a lot of sense in it. Not only is he now a serious competition in the rap, hip hop and alternative hip hop industry, he’s a big contender in the industry as a whole.
Jaden Syre Smith is the deal!
